Called in for sandwiches on our way to horseracing, enjoyed them so much we decided to visit again for dinner on our way back. Wonderful meal we will visit again if we are in the area.

I visited on my birthday and we were also celebrating my Auntie's 50th. There were 15 of us and we didn't pre order. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. Our food was with us in half an hour, was steaming hot and beautifully cooked. We all ate every last bit!! Will definitely be visiting again soon. Yum thanks!

Visited last night for valentines day for the forth year in a row (as well as visits inbetween) and the service and food was better than ever. Very warm welcome and really enjoyed the whole evening!

Our party of 6adults and 4kids had wonderful 3course meals here last night. The landlord and landlady are very warm and welcoming, especially as we had had to cancell our original booking! The food was delicious, plentiful and attractive. The pub was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere relaxed.Alan was even presented with a Birthday Muffin [with candle] and Happy Birthday played over the speakers!Don't know anywhere else nicer to go!

We had lunch here last week for the first time in ages. The ribeye steak was excellent, BUT the thick-cut chips were fantastic - the best we have had. We will definitely be back.

Sorry you had a bad experience Dan, only our second Sunday Lunch. We actually had No bookings on that Sunday but managed to accomodate 50 people for lunch, maybe you'd like to try lunch as us as a gesture of good will. Of course bookings are available.

Stayed three nights Sept29 to Oct 1, 2012 under new ownership and were sorry to leave such a welcoming place. Friendly atmosphere excellent food, beautifully presented. The new management Phil and Donna were very helpful in providing information and direction to local places we wished to visit. We can highly recommend this Pub.

Thank you for taking the time to place a review. We have passed it onto the landlord this is a fairly new business so we are sure they will take your comments on board and will look to make some changes. We are sorry you had a bad experience.

Has'nt improved under new ownership. Ran out of Sunday roasts at 1.45!!. Best avoided.

Thank you for your comments, i'm sorry you had a bad experience at this pub unfortunately the current licensee is leaving in September and I can see by your comments the standards have dropped. I hope you will try this pub again after September.

Stopped to eat here recently and was really dissapointed. The food was quite average and the person serving looked like they did'nt want to be there!! We have family in the area so often visit but will certainly not be back, the place feels like a ghost Inn !!
Anne Stanyer - 14th March 2012 14:35
Have eaten here on several occasions and the food and the service is amazing. We always have a starter, main and desert and compliments have to go to the chef as the standard is of a top class restaurant. The pub is cosy and immaculately presented and staff are polite and helpful. If out of your way, I would say that it is worth travelling to.

A delightful stay at this very friendly pub. The landlady/landlord were very hospitable. They go to any length to make you feel welcome. A beautifully looked after place. Two lovely fires for a cosy evening. The food is truly amazing. Yes the rooms are small but still managed to sleep three adults comfortably.
